Story of a girl learning the meaning of love through letters.

Violet is a soldier who only ever knew how to kill following the commands of her master, and who eventually came to be the writer that everyone sought after as this series unfolds. The sub-stories weaved together through the letters were all heartwarming, and the entire series is very well animated with the quality cinematic visuals that we come to love from Kyoto Animation. It's a beautiful series that is definitely worth watching again and again.

Based on novel series of the same name. The TV series did not include the ending, which would come later in movie form. It's slightly different from the original but in a good way.
