"Eromanga Sensei" volume 6 by Fushimi Tsukasa. A story of how a writer cleans up after his editor, with some atypical date scenes in between.
It starts off with Masamune's editor having promised that Eromanga Sensei will make a public appearance, despite Eromanga Sensei being a hermit who never leaves the house. This is resolved with a fake Eromanga Sensei to take Sagiri's place, doing very embarrassing things in public. This is a great opening chapter, and connects well with the end of volume 5.
The last chapter was yet another instance of Masamune having to fix the trouble caused by this same editor. Readers got to learn a lot more about Muramasa's private life as part of this mission, so that was a bonus. But sometimes I wonder if the main reason for this editor to exist is to provide a constant source of trouble to keep this novel series going. There are characters like this in every series, but in a series firmly based in the novel scene, I wonder if any relation between this editor and any real person is purely coincidental.
The main highlight for this volume is in the middle, where Masamune and Elf went on a date that took place entirely in Elf's house. Light novel readers are probably used to visualizing scenes from pure text, but this chapter takes it to the next level, where the characters themselves are substituting various indoor scenes with how the corresponding places in an amusement park might appear. The genius of this author is in taking what seemed to be an unremarkable setup, and proceed to create a lively scene out of it. It was a real pleasure to read.
This volume ends with Masamune's work being animated. Coincidentally, it also ends with the announcement that this novel series is being animated. This will probably be the closest thing to another Oreimo anime, looking forward to it!
