"Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!" (bless this wonderful world!) volume 11 by Akatsuki Natsume. Our party of flawed personalities returns to the basics for this volume.
The main staple for this series were the various quests and the unlikely (but so far inevitable) victories that followed. Having made friends in powerful places and lots of retirement money, Kazuma isn't so keen on going back to the perilous life of an adventurer. But the usual adventures did return, after Kazuma got kicked out of the castle for being a bad influence on Iris, and joining Megumin's campaign to impress her little sister Komekko. It's the little sisters that makes the world go round and round.
The first quest was for Kazuma to infiltrate his own home to take it back from Aqua. The cause was fairly trivial, and Kazuma's method for getting it back was dishonorable and underhanded, so we know we are back in the usual flow for this series. There was a bit of character development for this chapter, but mostly it was all overshadowed by all the subsequent quests. There was a quest mission to exorcise a harmless ghost of a minor religion, a controversial quest to eliminate a mostly harmless plant-type monster, and finally a most undesirable quest to conquer the turf that is the battleground between a Manticore and Griffin. It was a well paced volume with lots of trash talk and one explosion. I was especially happy that my favorite monster from volume 5 was revived for this volume.
There was also some effort to bring back the original premise about killing the demon lord and all, but that didn't last very long. Looks like there are lots more quests lined up for future volumes.
