"Imouto sae Ireba Ii" (all good as long as we have younger sister) volume 8 by Hirasaka Yomi. This is a build up to revealing the secret that has been kept since volume 1.

The one secret is the fact that Chihiro is really Itsuki's younger sister, and this is a series about everyone not realizing that what they wanted the most is something that they already have. Revealing Chihiro's secret is the one development that I have been waiting for since the beginning, and finally in this volume, some explanation has been given to why Itsuki's family was in this state for so long, but didn't go as far as actually revealing the secret. I am sure the author is carefully crafting everyone's reactions for that very moment.

Other than Chihiro's development, the industry info bits in this volume includes why announcements to novel series are being animated are sometimes accidentally leaked before the scheduled date, and all the consequences that followed. Incidentally, this was written following the leaked announcement of "Imouto sae Ireba Ii" anime, apparently due to premature release of the special packaging for volume 7. I totally enjoy these meta moments, especially a questionnaire about "which fall 2017 anime are you looking forward to?" and Chihiro answered "Kino no Tabi". But of course we all enjoyed "Imouto sae Ireba Ii" anime :)

This is a series that targets a more specific niche than many other novel series, the first ~3 pages of the first volume made this fairly clear and the first 5 minutes of the anime is a reminder of the same premise. And in this volume, this targeting strategy turns out to be an integral part of the story in more ways than I had previously imagined. Looking forward to more of Chihiro in the next volume.
