Contra III is the kind of mindless game that's fun to play once in a while, if you don't think about it too much.
The best part about it is definitely the bosses, all of them are creatively designed and all of them are trying their best to prevent you from seeing the reward of beating these bosses, which are invariably pictures of tough guys. Despite strong discouragement from these aliens, you marched forward to play a game of roulette with some distant relative of Mother Brain. With enough save states skillz, you managed to reach the congratulatory message at the end, but only after having been chastised for not playing in hard mode. And to show that we are serious, the game immediately restarts in hard mode.
Hmm, maybe I will try a different game for now.
