Best thing to do during a large scale power outage is to go outside and look at all the stars.
Thanks to poor management from local utility company, I did just that this weekend. I wasn't prepared to take pictures of the stars, but I figured I would regret it if I didn't try.
So I did get a bit more stars than usual, and if I had tried a bit harder and bring out my 500mm lens, I might have gotten a better shot of Andromeda Galaxy. But I was happy to have gotten a faint shot of it accidentally without specifically looking for it.
