"All You Need Is Kill" by Sakurazaka Hiroshi.  Avid readers should immediately recognize trouble ahead as soon as they open this book, not because of the very descriptive title, but because there is a flowchart on the same page as the table of contents.  This is a story with a multi-branch time loop, and one with all dead ends.

On the very descriptive title, "All You Need Is Kill" is indeed filled with detailed killing scenes throughout the book.  Besides the multiple timeline story, these would be the next highlight of the novel.  The scenes were very well written step-by-step accounts of how each kill was made, often with gory details (although not as gory as Berserk, perhaps).  These scenes were a pleasure to read, along with the occasional humor.

Action scenes aside, the main highlight is the multiple timeline that weave together a very carefully planned story.  The author is careful in building up tension for the final chapter, and ends the book in the way I expected -- not necessarily the way I would have liked, but exactly the way I expected.  I would rate this story as very complete and reasonable, although it feels like watching "Steins;Gate" and stopping at episode 22 instead of episode 24, and just missed the "true" ending.

Because this book is so well planned, any part of the book I might have wanted quoted here would be spoilers of varying levels, so I shall save that surprise factor who haven't picked up this book yet.  I suspect this book will translate very well to English, in part because there were plenty of English profanities (spelled in katakana, of course).

It's totally worth reading, especially the second time around.  Rita's lunch scenes were priceless.
