Choumakaimura is so hard.
If you start your jump at the wrong place, you will fall into a pit and die. If you time your double-jump wrong, you will not be able to change your trajectory, and you will fall into a pool of lava and die. If you climb the ladders too fast, you will get hit by a pendulum, lose your armor, then fall into the sea and die. If you climb the ladders too slow, you will run out of time and die.
All the power ups are in hidden treasure chests, some of those will contain a trap which will kill you. Others will contain a magician that turns you into a girl, and then a ghost will conveniently fly by and kill you. The remaining chests might contain weapons, but everything other than the dagger is rubbish, including the Goddess' Bracelet which you must use to advance to level 8. What a sadistic game.
Actually the level design were interesting, and the background music was quite nice. There are countless remixes of the music from level 1, presumably because many people never made it as far as level 2. I managed to beat it on the lowest difficulty setting thanks to the "rewind" feature of Famicom Mini, and my reward for beating it is I got to see Princess Prin Prin's three sizes.
10/10, would play again.
