"Lycoris Recoil Ordinary Days" by Asaura. This book is bonus material for anyone who can't get enough of Lycoris Recoil anime.

This is not a rehash of the anime series in novel form (unlike some other novelization), but entirely fresh content targeted at people who have at least seen the first 2 episodes of the anime series. Fresh content including Chisato's misguided romance plot and Takina's quest to cook better lunch, plus a whole lot more. The chapters are mostly independent, linked together with a subplot around Cafe Lyco Reco. The story shares the same positive ambience that permeates the original anime series and is very well written with many fine details.

The details made this book especially great -- reading prose might seem rather leisurely paced after having watched intense action scenes in animation form, but this pacing reveals a new level of detail that might have been easily missed in the anime. For example, there is a bit of text describing the spiked muzzle of Chisato's gun, which was certainly visible on screen, but it never crossed my mind to look for those until this book spelled out that bit. It also included the various stances for holding guns, and a play by play narration of how Chisato and Takina defeated a much better armed opponent. If you are the kind of person who would single-step through animation frames to marvel at random details, this book is totally for you.

This book extends the joys of the Lycoris Recoil world, and made use of the printed form to the fullest. It's definitely worth reading again.
