Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime is great, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this series to anyone. HG Gundam GQuuuuuuX model kit is... great. Well, it's a very different experience.
Due to certain career changes, I went on a splurge of buying lots of plastic model kits in case if I needed new ways to pass time. As expected, I join the large population of people who accumulate boxes of model kits without building them. To keep the pile manageable, I have been building through my backlog whenever I am between software projects, and my most recent kit was HG GQuuuuuuX.
Before GQuuuuuuX, my last three kits were HG Calibarn, HG Aerial, and HG Lfrith, all from "Witch from Mercury" series. So I did four Bandai kits in a row due to the recent anime series I have watched, but I generally prefer Kotobukiya kits because they don't have as much stickers. Honestly the Witch from Mercury kits were all quite pleasant despite the stickers -- they got this neat thing where you put double-sided stickers on the inside of transparent parts, and the result looks great.
But GQuuuuuuX is something else. GQuuuuuuX has so many stickers.
Not only were stickers numerous, they were also very small. There was one step where the stickers were literally a small 1mm^2 square red dot.
I detached the dot from the backing sheet, exhaled one breath, and the sticker was nowhere to be found. After searching the floor for 15 minutes for this one red dot, I gave up and cut out a similar shape from a red patch on the backing sheet. And then I discovered that the original red dot was attached to my finger. These stickers were just horrible.
Stickers aside, the colors are quite nice, and GQuuuuuuX has some unique design that I haven't seen in other Gundam models, particularly around the ankle.
Knowing all the trouble needed to build this kit, I am not sure I would have enough patience to build another one like it (no HG GFreD for me). But I am happy to have finished building GQuuuuuuX. The anime series is objectively good and everyone should watch that. The HG model kit is more selective of its audience, I would recommend it to everyone who have perfect dexterity and eyesight and patience.
