"Hamamura Nagisa no Keisan Nooto" (Hamamura Nagisa's Calculation Notes), volume 10 by Aoyagi Aito. Featuring ancient Chinese math, vectors, a story with calculators, and a story about Ramanujan.

This series has featured many math topics with varying level of depth, although a chapter based on calculator buttons might be a bit too elementary. Still, it's got numbers and a bit of mystery plot to go with it, and that's all it takes to keep this series going. Honestly I do appreciate the occasional diversion from the usual police versus terrorist fare, it was a good chapter to balance out the other topics.

The other chapters include more advanced topics such as vectors and quaternions, presented with the same digestible narration that has been a core feature of this series. This novel series is not a replacement for usual math textbooks, and it makes no attempt to explain Ramanujan's infinite series or his formula for computing pi, but it did a great job of folding references to these interesting topics into the story. This series has been a great collection of mathematical highlights, and volume 10 maintains the same spirit in contributing to this collection.

It has been 4 years since volume 9. The author explained that the long gap wasn't due to the pandemic, but more due to other works being prioritized. I am just happy this series is still going strong.
